With hundreds of Berbicians visiting the Corriverton Recreational Park on the weekends, the Corriverton Mayor and Town Council has been faced with the challenge of ensuring that persons disposing their waste in a proper manner.
As such, a decision was taken by the council to erect “no litter” signs within the park while implementing a $10,000 fine for anyone caught not adhering to rules and regulations surrounding the cleanliness of the park by illegally dumping their waste within the facility.
Mayor of Corriverton, Imran Amin said that the council is doing its part in ensuring that the environment is kept clean and so should persons utilizing the park.
He noted that several ten-day workers were employed and assigned to the Corriverton Recreational Park to ensure law and order is maintained and persons do not litter within and around the facility.

“The purpose of them being there is to overlook and maintain law and order at the park and at the same time to ensure that persons do not litter the park in which we gonna have signs erected anyone found littering in the park will be charge immediately a sum of 10,000 attach as the fine.”
According to the Mayor, the persons were employed through the Office of the first lady and the Ministry of Public works and are tasked with taking care of the general aesthetic of the park.
He said the workers will be working on a rotational shift basis between 9 to 5 and 5 to 1 and will be keeping an eye out for litter bugs.
