The mining town of Linden is poised for a major transformation as eight contracts were signed earlier today for the highly anticipated development of its waterfront, encompassing areas in both Linden and Wismar. With a $100 million allocation, the project aims to revitalize the riverfront, creating a vibrant, multifunctional community hub for residents and visitors alike.
Prime Minister Brigadier (Ret’d) Mark Phillips, present at the signing ceremony, commended the initiative for prioritizing local involvement. “This project is being executed by Linden contractors, for the direct benefit of Linden residents,” he emphasized, noting the focus on community-centered development and the empowerment of local expertise.
Minister of Public Works, Bishop Juan Edghill, announced that out of 15 bids submitted, eight contracts were awarded. He assured the remaining contractors that they would still contribute to the broader vision for the waterfront through smaller projects, fostering inclusivity and collaboration.
“This initiative is not only about physically upgrading the space but also about driving economic empowerment within the community,” Minister Edghill remarked. He highlighted the importance of leveraging local talent and resources to maximize the economic benefits for the town.
Once completed, the waterfront development will enhance the aesthetic appeal of the riverfront, provide recreational spaces, and boost tourism, adding a much-needed economic stimulus to the region. The initiative is part of the government’s overarching strategy to improve infrastructure, stimulate local economies, and enhance the quality of life for residents.
Further details about the project’s timeline and specific design features are expected to be disclosed in the coming weeks, as Linden gears up for a brighter and more dynamic future.
