Police are investigating a fatal accident that occurred on Sunday, September 29, 2024, at around 3:35 p.m. on the Rockstone Trail, approximately 10 minutes from the Rockstone Junction.
The incident involved a Toyota 212 motorcar, registration number PJJ 9024, driven by Kenrick Johnson of 1041 Central Amelia’s Ward, Linden, and his passenger, 38-year-old Julie Higgins of One Koker Squatting Area, Wismar, Linden, who tragically lost her life.
According to initial reports, the vehicle was traveling west along the southern side of the trail at a high speed when Johnson attempted to navigate a left turn. He lost control of the car, causing it to topple multiple times before coming to a stop. During the crash, Julie Higgins was ejected from the vehicle and was discovered lying motionless some distance away from the wreckage.
Both Johnson and Higgins were quickly assisted by bystanders and rushed to the Linden Hospital Complex. Upon arrival, Higgins was pronounced dead by the attending physician. Johnson, who sustained injuries to his left shoulder and complained of body pains, remains hospitalized for observation.
The body of Julie Higgins has been transferred to the Jestso Funeral Mortuary, where a post-mortem examination will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.
A breathalyzer test was administered to Kenrick Johnson, revealing no trace of alcohol. He remains in police custody as investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash.
