Residents of Orealla with assistance from ranks at the Oreally Police Outpost are making every effort to locate the body of a child who has gone missing after he left his home to go swimming in the Corentyne River earlier today.
Dead is 14-year-old Nathaniel Nelson of Orealla and a student of the Skeldon Line Path Secondary School.
According to information received thus far, the child who is not a swimmer went to the river with three others and was bathing as is customary when he ventures too far out into the river and disappeared.
The News Desk understands that after several minutes of searching, persons in the area felt the body stuck in the mud on the river bed. His grandmother who was told about what transpired gained and had to seek medical attention.
Orealla is a small indigenous community located several miles up the Corentyne River.
