Three individuals are expected to appear in court on Monday to answer a murder charge committed against 31-year-old Dinesh Persaud of Bath Settlement West Coast Berbice.
The alleged murder took place at the New Amsterdam Psychiatric Hospital between 01 hours and 07 hours on April 19, several days after the victim was admitted to the institution.
On the day in question at about 05 hours 45, a nurse on duty at the facility was alerted of Persaud being seen on the floor lying motionless with blood protruding from his mouth and nostrils.
He was taken to New Amsterdam Public Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival by a doctor on duty.
A Post Mortem conducted on the body on the 21st April 2023 at about 8 hours indicated that he died from a fractured skull, shock, and hemorrhage.
The suspects were arrested on 05th April and video and audio interviews were conducted after which a file was compiled and sent for legal advise and recommendations were made for them to be charged with murder.
On the 5th April 2023 the three suspects were re arrested and the charge was read to them. They are presently in custody awaiting their appearance in court.
