During a meeting with residents of Manchester Village on the Corentyne on Saturday, the Minister of Agriculture, Zulfikar Mustapha has assured residents that development with take in every single community across the country regardless of their perceived political affiliation.
He noted that “the president is talking about One Guyana, people must have the same kinds of opportunity, people must have the same kind of development, that is what we are talking about, and both the president, the vice president, and the entire cabinet, we are talking about bringing people together and get development.”
Mustapha implored residents of Manchester to “don’t allow politics and race to divide us” but rather work together for the betterment of their respective communities.
While there, residents also raised several issues with the Minister of Agriculture. Among those issues were the need for improved drainage and irrigation, unemployment among youths, rehabilitation of roads, and solid waste management, among others.
Mustapha said that the Government is for all of Guyana irrespective of political affiliation and as such, developments will take place in every single community across the country. He noted the various NDCs recently received tractors which could also be used for garbage collection.
The Agriculture Minister will also be meeting with youths in the area during a follow up visit to see how assistance can be given so they can get involve in the cultivation of high value crops.
Minister Mustapha also met with residents in Zambia in Black Bush Polder and Number 53 Village on the Corentyne where similar issues were raised and assurances were given by the Agriculture Minister for redress.
