The are investigating a fatal incident which occurred just after midnight on Friday on the Dundee Public Road, Mahaicony, East Coast Demerara, where the driver and occupant of a motorcar PAB 8723 lost their lives.
Dead are 43-year-old Shelroy McAlister of Lot 11 Airy Hall Mahaicony who was driving the motor car and occupant, Fredrick Frazer of Huntley Mahaicony.
thenewsdeskgy.com understands that the motor car lost control and slammed into a Guyana Power and Light pole and a concrete fence at Dundee Mahaicony.
According to the police, the driver of the motor car was proceeding West along the southern side of the road at a fast rate when he lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a turn and ended up colliding with a GPL pole and the concrete fence.
As a result of the collision, the vehicle burst into flames. The driver and occupant were both burnt to death beyond recognition.
A Fire Tender responded to the scene and removed the bodies after putting out the blaze. The remains were taken to the Mahaicony Cottage Hospital where a doctor pronounced both occupants dead.
The bodies are lying at Bailey’s Funeral Home, awaiting PME.
Investigations are ongoing.
