Police are investigating a fatal incident which occurred at about 02 hours 30 on Little Diamond Public Road, East Bank Demerara, in the vicinity of the new Diamond interlinked road on Sunday.
The incident involved motor car #PAD 8961 which was being driven by 30-year-old Ishmael Cort of Lot 33 North East Grove, East Bank Demerara who passed away while receiving treatment at the Georgetown Public Hospital.
According to the police, at around 23 hours 30 on Saturday, the vehicle’s owner 33 year old Keyah Cort, parked the car at the above-mentioned address and went to bed. At about 03 hours 30 on Sunday, he received a telephone call saying his vehicle was involved in an accident on Little Diamond Public Road.
Keyah told investigators that he made checks for his vehicle, and he observed that it was missing. He then left for the scene, and on arrival, he saw his vehicle with extensive damage, mostly to the front portion, on the road.
He was then informed that the driver who is his brother had collided with the Culvert and had to be taken out of the vehicle in an unconscious condition by public-spirited citizens and taken to the Diamond Hospital.
Ishmael Cort, was seen and examined by a doctor on duty who treated him, and he was transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital for further treatment, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
