Deputy Chief Immigration Officer Superintendent Stephen Telford rewarded one of his ranks, Woman Corporal Hopeladonna George, at a simple ceremony yesterday (Tuesday, October 10, 2023) at the Central Immigration and Passport Office, Eve Leary, Georgetown.
Woman Corporal Hopeladonna George, who has sixteen years of unbroken service and is known to many of her colleagues for her warm, welcoming and pleasant personality, was performing duties at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA) during the month of September when an incoming passenger who she processed was captivated by her professionalism while executing her duties.
The passenger, Mr Keshav Setaram, after being amazed by the Immigration rank’s performance, immediately forwarded an email to the Guyana Police Force highlighting the quality of service he received while interacting with the rank. The passenger noted that Ms George was very pleasant and efficient while doing her job and looked neat, clean and crisp in her uniform.
The passenger further mentioned that he was surprised with the rank’s sterling decorum and was thankful for the interaction with Ms George.
Superintendent Telford, while handing over a token of appreciation in the form of a plaque to Ms George, commended her for her performance and made an urgent call for other ranks within the Immigration Department and, by extension, the Guyana Police Force to emulate her.
