Fitzroy Aulder, a 44-year-old resident of 36 Front Road, East Ruimveldt, Georgetown, was charged yesterday with Motor Manslaughter, contrary to Section 35 A(1) of the Motor Vehicle and Road Traffic Act, Chapter 51:02, as amended by the Motor Vehicle and Road Traffic Amendment Act 2022.
The defendant appeared at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Liverpool, who read the charge to him. He pleaded not guilty to the charge and was remanded to prison
The matter was adjourned to 15th December 2023.
Aulder was the driver of a vehicle that struck down Woman Constable 25953 Annette Abel, a 53-year-old of Lot 64 Perth Village, Mahaicony, East Coast Demerara, and attached to the Beterverwagting (BV) Police Station’s Traffic Department. The female cop lost her life while on duty as she and her colleagues were manning a roadblock outside the BV Police Station.
