A tragic accident occurred on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at approximately 08:20 hours on the Experiment Public Road, West Coast Berbice, resulting in the death of an electrical cyclist, Sheron Munroe. The incident involved a motor car, registration number PAE 6334, owned by Agardeo Sahadeo and driven by Shamaul Rohan Sahadeo.
Initial investigations by the authorities reveal that the electrical cyclist, Sheron Munroe, was traveling west along the southern side of the road. Motor car #PAE 6334, also heading in the same direction, was behind the electrical cyclist.
According to reports, the driver of the car collided with the rear of the electrical cyclist, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle. The car subsequently crashed into a lamp post on the southern side of the road.
As a result of the collision, Sheron Munroe was thrown onto the road and sustained severe injuries. Passersby quickly responded and transported her to the Fort Wellington Public Hospital. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Munroe was pronounced dead approximately one and a half hours after the incident.
The driver of the motor car, Shamaul Rohan Sahadeo, along with the car’s occupant, Agardeo Sahadeo, were also taken to the Fort Wellington Public Hospital for treatment. Their current conditions are not known at this time.
The Guyana Police Force has launched an investigation into the accident, as they continue to gather more information and assess the circumstances leading up to the collision.
