In a heartwarming display of community and government collaboration, the Men on Mission (MOM) initiative handed over a brand-new home to 76-year-old Rudolph Anantram and his wife in Port Mourant, Corentyne, during a special ceremony on Saturday.
This effort is part of a broader initiative aimed at improving the lives of elderly and disadvantaged citizens by providing them with safe, secure, and comfortable housing.
The Men on Mission initiative, a partnership between the government and volunteers, seeks to make a lasting difference in communities by offering not only homes but also essential resources to those most in need. For Mr. Anantram and his wife, the new home marks a fresh chapter in their lives, offering them a secure and dignified place to live out their remaining years in peace.
Speaking at the official handover ceremony, Minister of Natural Resources, Hon. Vickram Bharrat, praised the collaborative efforts behind the project. He emphasized that while the Men on Mission team has provided the physical structure, it is now up to the beneficiaries to turn the house into a home filled with love, warmth, and memories. Minister Bharrat highlighted the importance of such community-driven initiatives in uplifting vulnerable individuals and fostering unity.
In his response, Rudolph Anantram expressed his deep gratitude to the Men on Mission initiative for their unwavering support. He acknowledged that, due to his age and limited resources, securing proper housing would have been impossible without the assistance. He praised the initiative for making his and his wife’s dream of a safe home a reality, ensuring their comfort in their later years.
Regional Chairman David Armogan and other MOM officials were also present at the event. They reaffirmed their commitment to supporting vulnerable populations across the country, noting that this project is part of a larger effort to provide meaningful assistance to those in need. The Men on Mission initiative continues to bridge gaps within communities, offering hope and tangible support to those who need it most.
This latest act of generosity demonstrates the ongoing dedication to improving the lives of citizens, particularly the elderly and disadvantaged, by creating lasting, positive change within their communities.
