Azariah Alli, of Lot 90 Lance Gibbs Street, Queenstown, Georgetown, was granted bail in the sum of $150,000 on each charge of possession of ammunition without a license in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court when the matter was called again before Chief Magistrate Faith McGusty.
Alli, who was represented by attorney-at-law Bernard DaSilva, had been charged under Section 16(2)(a) of the Firearms Act, Chapter 16:05 of the Laws of Guyana, after being found in possession of five live 9mm rounds of ammunition on Norton Street, Georgetown, on Sunday, September 8, 2024. He was not the holder of a firearm license.
The prosecutor was not ready with disclosure, and the matter was adjourned for report and disclosure on December 20, 2024. The conditions of Alli’s bail require him to report to the Alberttown Police Station on the last Friday of every month between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m.
Additionally, he must lodge his passport with the court until the hearing and determination of the case.
Initially, Alli had been denied bail after his first court appearance but was granted bail in today’s hearing.
