Police in Berbice are investigating an armed robbery that occurred this morning at the Port Mourant Market, where two armed and masked men targeted a pastry vendor.
According to reports reaching The News Desk, the suspects were spotted loitering in the area prior to the incident, but vendors did not raise an alarm. Moments later, the men fired shots into the air, creating panic and causing those nearby to scatter.
The vendor, who appeared to be the target, dropped her belongings, which the men quickly grabbed before fleeing the scene on two motorcycles.
Fortunately, police officers responded swiftly, preventing the situation from escalating further.
