Minister of Agriculture, Hon. Zulfikar Mustapha, attended the Old Year’s Community Celebration at the New Amsterdam Recreational Park, where he engaged with attendees and extended New Year’s greetings on behalf of himself and President Mohamed Irfaan Ali.
In his brief remarks, Minister Mustapha noted the unprecedented development Guyana experienced over the past year. He added that the promises and commitments made by the People’s Progressive Party Civic (PPP/C) Government have been delivered, marking a historic milestone for the country.
“For the first time in Guyana’s history, a government has delivered on all its promises. We have seen thousands of people become proud owners of their own house lots and homes. Over three to four thousand community roads have been completed across the country. Tremendous transformation projects are taking place, along with massive rehabilitations in various sectors of our society,” Minister Mustapha said.
He urged the gathering to carry forward the optimism and momentum of 2024 into the new year. “As we approach 2025 with optimism and hope, let us ensure we continue the momentum we started this year with. Under this government, the future is bright. Let us unite under one banner of being One Guyana and make this country one that the rest of the world envies.”
The Minister extended his personal best wishes for a prosperous 2025 and expressed hope that the coming year would bring continued development and a secured future for all.
Regional Vice Chairman Zamal Hussain and Regional Executive Officer Narindra Persaud also attended the event, which featured a variety of foods and goodies for the attendees, fostering a spirit of unity and celebration as the region welcomed the new year.
Meanwhile, similar celebrations were held at the Corriverton Recreational Park, the Port Mourant Community Center Ground, and the Rose Hall Estate Community Center Ground. These events were graced by the presence of the Minister within the Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development, Hon. Anand Persaud, and Regional Chairman David Armogan, who visited and shared greetings with attendees.
