Two individuals are in police custody as authorities continue investigations into the fatal hit-and-run accident that claimed the life of a nine-month-old baby girl and left her parents critically injured on Sunday, March 2, 2025, at Line Path Public Road, Corentyne.
According to Regional Commander Ravindra Stanley, the owner of the vehicle and a friend of the suspect at whose home the car was found abandoned have been detained. The white Fielder wagon involved in the crash is currently impounded at the Springlands Police Station.
Police have identified the suspected driver as Avinesh Naidoo of Corriverton, Berbice. Efforts are being made to prevent him from fleeing to neighboring Suriname as law enforcement agencies continue their search.
