As the world pauses to celebrate mothers everywhere, 31-year-old Navida Seunarine of Lot 745 Kilcoy Chesney stands as a shining example of resilience, love, and dedication. A single mother of two energetic boys and a teacher for the past 14 years, Seunarine opened up to The News Desk about her profound journey of balancing career and motherhood.
“Motherhood is a journey of love, resilience, and growth,” Seunarine reflected. “Every moment of it matters.”
She describes becoming a mother as stepping into a world that was both “terrifying and magical,” filled with first cries, sleepless nights, and overwhelming love. Raising two sons, she says, has been a whirlwind of laughter and chaos, but it has also taught her patience, strength, and adaptability.
“There’s something uniquely rewarding about watching them grow, seeing their curiosity, and helping shape them into kind, confident young men who will one day make a difference,” she shared. “Even through scraped knees and superhero obsessions, the love is constant.”
Balancing life as a “boy mom” and a full-time educator has its fair share of challenges. Seunarine said teaching has not only helped her nurture her own children but has also allowed her to extend love and guidance to her students. She credits her profession with enhancing her multitasking skills and empathy while helping her find joy in small victories.
But, she admitted, the struggle is real. “There are nights when marking papers competes with bedtime stories, and days when school meetings clash with my boys’ activities. The guilt of divided attention is always there,” Seunarine said. “But I’ve learned that being present, not perfect, is what truly matters.”
Despite the challenges, Seunarine says her sons have been her greatest motivation. “They see me pursuing my passion, and I hope to teach them the value of hard work and dedication.”
To all mothers juggling similar roles, her message is clear: “You are enough. The love you give, the sacrifices you make, and the strength you show every day are the foundation of your family’s happiness.”
This Mother’s Day, Seunarine’s story serves as a powerful reminder to celebrate not just the joys, but also the resilience of motherhood.
