
The Blairmont Centre Cricket Club (BCCC) is gearing up to host its inaugural Floodlight Independence Cup – Doomsday 100 Balls Cricket and Festival on Sunday, May 25, 2025, at the Blairmont Estate Ground. In the event of rain, Monday, May 26, has been set as the reserve day. This much-anticipated event promises a full day of action-packed cricket and exciting entertainment as some of the country’s top cricket clubs face off in a thrilling 100-ball format under the lights.
Among the teams confirmed to participate are Albion Community Centre Cricket Club (ACCCC), Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC), Cotton Tree Cricket Club (Die Hard), Young Warriors, West Berbice Superkings, and the home team, Blairmont Blazers. The action is scheduled to begin at 9:30 AM and will continue into the night under artificial lighting, giving fans a rare opportunity to enjoy local cricket in a festival atmosphere.

The event will feature a high-energy halftime show with performances by four-time Chutney King Bunty Singh, Lil Krish, the Berbice Delight Dance Group, and the popular entertainer known as the Local Michael Jackson. Live commentary will be provided throughout the day by regional commentator Inderjeet Persaud, former West Indies player Brendon Bess, and others, adding to the atmosphere and fan engagement.
Spectators can also enjoy several side attractions, including a domino competition, three-a-side volleyball, horseback riding, and a walk-around by cartoon characters for the children. There will also be booths where sponsors will showcase their goods and services. In a special highlight, lucky fans will have the chance to receive autographed Amazon Warriors shirts signed by West Indies, National, and Albion player Gudakesh Motie.
Proceeds from the event will go toward critical development initiatives at BCCC, including the construction of two concrete sight screens, the installation of two 300-watt floodlights to facilitate nighttime training, the purchase of additional ground covers to protect against the weather, and the continued maintenance of the ten cricket teams that form part of the club.
