The incident involved motorcycle #CP 2700, which was owned and ridden by 25-year-old Jamal Hughes of Lot 90 Glasgow Village, East Bank Berbice. Riding pillion was 24-year-old Marashia Dehart of Lot 52 Stanleytown, New Amsterdam. The crash also involved a cream-coloured, unbranded cow—whose owner and address remain unknown.

Public-spirited citizens assisted in transporting them to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital. Hughes was admitted in a semi-conscious state and treated for head injuries and trauma to other parts of his body. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries at around 01:55 hrs.
Dehart was treated for minor injuries and later discharged.
