Police are investigating a fatal accident that occurred on Sunday, September 28, 2025, at about 15:55 hours on the #69 Public Road, Corentyne, Berbice.
The incident involved motorcycle #CN 7562, owned by Kishan Jagmohan of Lot G #71 Village, Corentyne, and driven by 23-year-old Eric Kissoon of Lot 200 #72 Village, Corentyne, who succumbed to his injuries. Riding with him at the time were pillion passengers Soohil Thakuradi, a 13-year-old student of Tagore Memorial Secondary from Lot 202 Section B #72 Village, and Goomraj Veerasammy, 28, of Lot 43 #0 Village, Corentyne. Both remain hospitalised in critical condition.
Initial investigations revealed that the motorcycle was proceeding south along the eastern drive lane of the #68 Public Road at an alleged fast rate of speed. Police reported that the driver was unlicensed, and neither he nor his pillion riders wore safety helmets. While negotiating a right bend, Kissoon reportedly lost control of the motorcycle and collided with a bridge rail on the eastern side of the road.

The trio sustained multiple injuries and were picked up by public-spirited citizens. Kissoon was unconscious while Thakuradi and Veerasammy were semi-conscious when all three were rushed to the #75 Regional Hospital.
Doctors there examined the victims, and Kissoon later died while receiving treatment. His body is currently at the hospital mortuary awaiting a post-mortem examination. The pillion riders were also examined and admitted, with their conditions listed as serious.
Investigations are ongoing.
