A tragic incident occurred in Moraikobai, Region Five, after a 2-year-old boy drowned while visiting his grandmother.
On Saturday at around 8:30 hours, Devin Jacobs left his home with his siblings to visit their grandmother, Herbineta Andrew, a short two to three-minute walk away. Upon arrival, the children asked to bathe, and as was their usual practice, they were allowed to do so at the nearby creek.
About 15 minutes later, Devin was found to be missing. A search around the creek and surrounding areas was conducted but proved unsuccessful. Around 11:00 hours, Steven Fredericks went to the creek to bathe and discovered Devin’s lifeless body floating in the water, raising the alarm immediately.
The toddler was transported to the Mahaicony Cottage Hospital around 21:00 hours, where he was pronounced dead by a doctor on duty. His body is currently at Bailey’s Funeral Parlour, awaiting a post-mortem examination.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
