Police are investigating an accident that resulted in the death of 57-year-old Frederick Schneider of Lot 95 Friendship Village Corentyne Berbice.
Investigations have so far revealed that motor lorry GJJ 6506 was proceeding south along the eastern drive lane of the No. 36 Village Public Road when it was alleged by the motor lorry driver that while proceeding he observed motorcycle CL 1832 which was proceeding in the opposite direction made a sudden swerve East onto the eastern drive lane into his path.
According to the driver, he swerved west to avoid a collision but despite the effort, the front of the said motorcycle which was being driven by the deceased, collided with the left side of his truck.
As a result of the collision, the cyclist fell onto the road surface and received injuries about his body. He was picked up in an unconscious condition and taken to the Skeldon Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival by a doctor on duty.
Investigations are continuing.
