The police are investigating a fatal accident which occurred on the wee hours of Sunday on the Nurney Public Road that resulted in the death of 24-year-old Cemion Munroe of Ulverston Village Corentyne.
According to the police, motorcar # PAB 8899 was proceeding west along the southern drive lane on Nurney Public Road, Corentyne Berbice, allegedly at a normal rate of speed, when the driver alleged that he saw one cream cow walking from the northern to the southern side, of the road.
As a result, he applied brakes and pulled to the southern side on the road, while Motor cycle # CL 8946 was proceeding east (opposite direction) along the northern drive lane of the said road allegedly at a fast rate, without a safety helmet and collided with the said cow and lost control of the motorcycle. He then collided with the right side front fender rearview mirror of Motor car # PAB 8899.
The motorcycle-list fell onto the road surface, where he received injuries about his body and was picked up by public-spirited citizens in a semi-conscious condition and placed into force motorcar # PAB 6570 and was rushed to the Port Mourant Public Hospital, where he was medically examined and treated by a doctor on duty but At succumbed an hour later while receiving medical attention at the said hospital.
His body is presently lying at Ramoo’s Funeral Home awaiting Post Mortem Examination.
A breathalyzer test was conducted on the driver of motor car # PAB 8899 and a reading of zero micrograms.
The driver is in custody, assisting with the investigation.
