29-year-old Neil Madramootoo of Shoe Lane New Amsterdam who was recently placed on $500,000 bail for an attempted murder charge is now remanded after the charge was upgraded to murder.
He appeared in the New Amsterdam Magistrates’ Court before Magistrate Peter Hugh to answer a murder charge earlier today.
The allegation is that on October 01, 2023, he murdered 32-year-old Ashmin Mahadeo of Williamsburg Corentyne.
thenewsdeskgy.com understands that on the day in question, he shot Mahadeo in the neck. She passed away on Sunday at the New Amsterdam Regional Hospital.
Her brother, Naresh Mahdeo had told the media that his sister was recovering well and was transferred back to the New Amsterdam Hospital Hospital from the Georgetown Public Hospital.
Mahadeo was found with a gunshot wound to her neck on the day in question, just three weeks away from marrying the accused who she shared a seven-year common-law relationship with.
The accused was remanded and the matter was transferred to the Albion Magistrates’ Court for November 22.
