Police are investigating an alleged Robbery Under Arms committed on Thakoor Harryram called ‘Ricky’, a 43-year-old Taxi Driver of Lot 190 West Indian Housing Scheme, Bartica, which occurred between 20:20 and 20:30 hrs last night (Sunday) at his residence.
The suspect is said to be a male, who was masked and armed with a suspected firearm.
Investigations disclosed that at about 20:20 hrs last night, the victim arrived at his residence with a female friend (a Venezuelan National) and his son. He parked his car and proceeded to the back of his home. As he was ascending his stairs, the suspect approached and held him at gunpoint.
The suspect told Harryram that someone sent him to kill him but he would not. He ordered Harryram to take off and hand over his jewellery. The victim complied and handed over three gold chains with six gold nuggets, one gold band, one gold ring, one diamond ring and one Samsung cellular phone — all at an estimated total value of six million dollars ($6,000,000).
The suspect then jumped over the fence and made good his escape on foot through some vegetation aback the yard. The area was checked for the suspect who is yet to be apprehended. No one was injured and no shot was fired.
Investigations continue.
