A Lesbeholden,Black Bush Polder, Corentyne man succumbed this morning to injuries he sustained during an accident on the Clifton Public Road on the Corentyne on Saturday.
Dead is Chandradat Allie. He passed away at about 4 hours while receiving treatment at the Georgetown Public Hospital.
According to reports, motor lorry bearing registration numner GZZ 7836 was proceeding west along the southern lane of Clifton Public Road when it is alleged by the driver that the motorcycle CJ 2990 which was being driven by Allie rode from south to north across the road into the path of the lorry.
The driver of the lorry claimed that he applied breaks and pull right to avoid a collision but his effort proved futile and the right side front collided with the right side of the motorcycle. The motorcycle then collided into the right side of motor car bearing registration number PHH 4070 which was stationary on the northern side facing east.
As a result of the collision, the motorcyclist received injuries about his body and the lorry and car ended up in the northern side trench. The motorcyclist was picked up in an unconscious condition by the police and public-spirited citizen and taken to the Port Mourant Hospital where he was medically examined by a doctor on duty and later transferred to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital where he was further examined by a doctor on duty and underwent emergency surgery.
The motorcylist was subsequently transferred to Georgetown Public Hospital where he succumbed.
A breathalizer test was administered on the driver of the motor lorry and a reading of zero (0) was recorded.
Investigations are continuing.
