The Press Unit of the Guyana Police Force has confirmed that convicted murderer who was also on death row, Mark Royden Williams has escaped from the Mazaruni Prison moments ago.
The details surrounding his escape is unclear at this point, but The News Desk understands that he was assisted external persons. However, the Joint Services is currently pursuing the escapee. Additional information will be provided as it becomes available.
In 2017, the convict was sentenced to death on eight counts of murder in relation to the Bartica massacre in 2008. He was also handed another death sentence for the murder of Guyana Defence Force (GDF) soldier Ivor Williams which occurred in 2008.
