Police in Berbice are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of an unidentified man whose lifeless body was discovered in a trench a short distance behind the Port Mourant Market.
Reports reaching The News Desk indicate that there was a wedding in the area last night, during which a fight reportedly broke out. Police were summoned to the scene but found the situation already de-escalated upon their arrival.
However, early this morning, residents made the grim discovery of a body bearing multiple chop wounds in the trench and immediately alerted the authorities.
Sources have suggested that the deceased may be linked to a previous incident earlier this year involving the chopping to death of a 17-year-old who attacked a goldsmith during a robbery at the Port Mourant Market.
