36-year-old Satesh Ramnarish of Williamsburg Corentyne was remanded when he appeared in the New Amsterdam Magistrates’ Court to answer a murder charge on Friday.
The father of six children whose ages are between 5 and 13 years old was not required to plea to the indictable charge when it was read to him by Magistrate Renita Singh.
It is alleged that between the 18th and 19th of October, during the course of a robbery, he murdered 60-year-old Akbar Sain of Williamsburg.
After the charge was read to the accused he got on his knees and begged and pleaded with the Magistrate to have mercy on him and said “I went to get food for my children so they can get food to go to school, I didn’t mean to do it ma’am and I didn’t expect that was gonna happen ma’am”
Ramnarish who was shot in the arm and also has visible injuries to the head also begged the court for a chance to provide for his children “ Ma’am give me a chance for my six children ma’am please let me provide a life for them, they don’t have anyone ma’am please I’m begging you please.”
Magistrate Singh, reminded the accused that the offense is not a bailable one and that he would have to be remanded until November 07, when the matter will be called again but this time at the Albion Magistrates Court.
At about 02 hours 30 on Wednesday, acted on information filtered from the Police Operations Room to the Berbice Anti-Crime Patrol to responded to a report of alleged Break-and-Enter-and-Larceny at a supermarket at Williamsburg.
On arrival at the alleged scene, police ranks observed the grill to the southern side of the businessman’s home opened. The businessman (Akbar Sain), who lived alone, was seen lying motionless on the supermarket floor with blood on his face. The cashier area was ransacked. The businessman’s licensed firearm (.32 pistol and a magazine with eight .32 rounds of ammunition) was seen close to the businessman’s body.

At about 05 hours, Police ranks canvassed the area twice, and the suspect was seen hiding behind a washing wachine in the back verandah in the upper flat of the businessman’s two-story house.
The Police challenged him, and he received a shot in the right arm. A search was conducted on his person, and a quantity of Guyana Currency was found stashed in his crotch.
He was then questioned and confessed to breaking into the residence, after which he had a scuffle with the victim, during which he hit the victim with a piece of wood to his head, causing him to collapse to the ground (and die). The suspect said he then proceeded into the residence and stole the cash the Police found on his person.
The suspect was escorted to the Port Mourant Public Hospital, where a doctor on duty saw and medically examined him.
