The Department of Education in Region Six began the distribution of the “Because We Care” cash grant to the parents of over 22,000 students attending the Nursery, Primary, and Secondary Schools in Region Six.
The first day of distribution began at 9 hours today and targeted schools in the New Amsterdam to Canje area.
The News Desk caught up with several parents who expressed appreciation towards the Government for reinstating the grant after taking office in 2021 and increasing it incrementally in keeping with a promise made.
While some parents noted that the money will be used to purchase school supplies, others disclosed that they will put the money into the child’s savings account for future use.
Regional Chairman, David Armogan who visited several of the distribution sites noted that there were no hiccups during the distribution process. He is hoping that a smooth process will continue throughout the week.
