Jamal Forde, a 36-year-old Customs Officer from Providence, East Bank Demerara (EBD), appeared at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court today after being charged with multiple offenses connected to an incident on September 3, 2024.
According to police reports, Forde was arrested at the Sparendaam Police Station following allegations of inappropriate behavior and confrontation with law enforcement officers.
The first charge brought against Forde was for exposing his genitals to a Police Constable, an offense under Section 28(1)(b) of the Sexual Offences Act, Chapter 8:03. This serious accusation of public indecency was accompanied by additional charges of resisting arrest and disorderly behavior, both of which fall under the Summary Jurisdiction (Offences) Act, Chapter 8:02.
During his court appearance before Magistrate Abigail Gibbs, Forde pleaded not guilty to all charges. Bail was granted in the total sum of $160,000, allocated as $60,000 for the exposure charge, $50,000 for resisting arrest, and $50,000 for disorderly conduct. The case has been adjourned until December 12, 2024, when statements will be presented.
