Angelica Cameron, a 32-year-old Prison Officer of Glasgow Housing Scheme, East Bank Berbice, was arrested on the 9th of December, 2023 and charged yesterday with two counts of Possession of Narcotics for the Purpose of Trafficking.
The charges were laid under Section 5(1)(a)(i) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Control Act, Chapter 10:10.
The Defendant appeared at the New Amsterdam Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Peter Hugh where the charges were read to her and she pleaded not guilty. Bail was refused and she was remanded to prison. The matter was adjourned to 2023-12-27.
The female prison officer was arrested on Saturday after she was found in possession of 289 grams of cannabis, some of which were concealed in a water bottle, while entering the New Amsterdam prison in Berbice.
