Police are investigating a serious accident that occurred on the Palmyra Public Road at the Berbice Bridge junction just after midnight on Saturday.
The injured man has been identified as 20-year-old Shamar Boller, a firefighter attached to the Rose Hall Fire Station and of St. Ann Street New Amsterdam. He was riding motorcycle bearing registration number CL 8270 at the time of the accident.
thenewsdeskgy.com understands that Motor Lorry GAC 2588 was proceeding south along the Eastern drive lane on the above mentioned Road at a normal rate of speed and as the driver approach the Berbice Bridge Junction, he put on his right side indicator to turn right into the Berbice River Bridge access Road.
However, whiles in the process of doing so, the rider of motorcycle CL 8270 which was proceeding in the said direction at the rear of lorry at a fast rate of speed without a safety helmet attempted to overtake the lorry and collided with the right side front portion tray of the said lorry.
As a result of the impact, the rider fell on to the road surface where he recived injures to his head and about his body. He was pick up in a unconcious condition by public spirted citizen and taken to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital where he was seen and examined by a doctor on duty who treated him for his injuries and later transferred him to the Georgetown Public Hospital in an unconscious condition.
