40-year-old Kayum Khan, an unemployed man of Grove Sea Dam, East Bank Demerara, was charged with ‘Break-and-Enter-and-Larceny’ when he appeared in the Diamond/Grove Magistrates’ Court on Friday.
Khan pleaded guilty to the charge when stated that between 25th and 26th of September 2023, he broke and entered the Trust Mart Supermarket which is owned by Yu Heng Guo.
The convict is accused of stealing one case of Absolut Vodka valued at $48,000, one bottle Johnny Walker Black Label valued at $13,000, one bottle of 12-year-old El Dorado Rum valued at $7,200, and 25 cartons of cigarettes valued at $100,000
The charge was read to him by Magistrate Sunil Scarce who sentenced the accused to six months imprisonment following his guilty plea.
