Police are investigating a fatal accident that occurred early this morning (Sunday, February 2, 2025) on the public road at Timehri, East Bank Demerara, which claimed the life of 25-year-old Suresh Singh of Hill Foot, Soesdyke-Linden Highway.
The accident involved motor car #PAG 9078, driven by Singh, and motor lorry #GAD 8492, driven by 45-year-old Terry Duff, a Trinidadian national.
According to police reports, at around 06:30 hrs, Singh was driving south at a fast rate when he allegedly lost control of his vehicle, veering into the path of the oncoming lorry, which was heading north. The resulting collision left both vehicles extensively damaged and Singh with severe injuries.
Public-spirited citizens assisted in transporting Singh to the Diamond Diagnostic Center, where he was examined by Dr. Singal and pronounced dead on arrival. His body has since been taken to the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, where it awaits a post-mortem examination.
Meanwhile, a breathalyzer test conducted on the truck driver found no trace of alcohol in his system. He has been served a Notice of Intended Prosecution and is currently in police custody as investigations continue.
