A 31-year-old single mother of five, Shelly Doodnauth of Patrick Dam, Angoy’s Avenue, New Amsterdam, has received a fully furnished new home through the Men on Mission (MoM) Initiative, a program spearheaded by President Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali to support vulnerable individuals and families.
The emotional mother shared her gratitude during the handing-over ceremony, recounting the struggles her family endured in their previous home, which was in a deplorable state. She described sleepless nights during heavy rains when water would seep into the structure, leaving her and her children uncomfortable and distressed.

“I want to thank Father God for providing this for me and all those who helped. I didn’t have anybody to turn to for help. The place where we used to live, the rain used to wet me and my children. We couldn’t sleep at night. I am so thankful to everyone who gave a helping hand for me and my children,” Doodnauth said.
The initiative to build the home was brought to the attention of the Men on Mission by the People’s Progressive Party Civic (PPP/C) New Amsterdam Cluster while conducting political outreach in the area. The MoM team collaborated with corporate sponsors to fund and construct the home, ensuring it was fully furnished to provide the family with much-needed comfort.

Minister of Agriculture, Hon. Zulfikar Mustapha, who attended the simple but meaningful ceremony, highlighted the government’s commitment to improving the lives of vulnerable citizens.
“This initiative is part of our efforts to ensure that vulnerable groups across all regions in Guyana see improvements in their lives. Today’s activity is one of many happening across the country, and I applaud the New Amsterdam cluster and the corporate sponsors for making this possible,” Minister Mustapha said.

Region Six Chairman, David Armogan, also expressed gratitude to the Men on Mission program and the sponsors for their contribution. He commended President Ali’s vision for creating such impactful initiatives that bring relief and hope to citizens in need.
