Several ranks of the Central and Immigration Passport Office, earlier today (Saturday, September 30th) attended a workshop at the Officers’ Training Centre, Eve Leary, where they were briefed on the amendment to the Registration of Births and Deaths Act, Chapter 44:01.
The workshop, which was organised by Deputy Chief Immigration Officer Superintendent Stephen Telford and facilitated by Head of the General Register Office, Registrar General, Mr Raymond Cummings, saw thirty-one (31) ranks of the Department from Lethem, Anna Regina, Berbice, Linden and Central Georgetown attending the training session.

According to the Registrar General, Mr Raymon Cummings, the workshop’ was held to brief the ranks of the amendment to the Act, which he noted was done in 2021, and to have both agencies working in synchronisation with each other in order to avoid unnecessary delays for both departments and citizens as well.
The Registration of Births and Deaths Act, Chapter 44:01 was amended in 2021 and saw two new sections (34 and 44A) being inserted in the Principal Act with amendments to sections 35, 43, and 49 and an amendment to the Principal Act to insert new part -VIA.
