Detectives are investigating the murder of 27-year-old Kenesha Marie Juman Vaughn, a housewife of Lot 1179, Section ‘A’ Block ‘X’ Diamond Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara. The incident occurred around 20:00 hrs on February 22, 2025, at the couple’s residence.
The suspect, 32-year-old businessman Marlon DaSilva, who resided with the victim, is in police custody. He is a licensed firearm holder of a CZ semi-automatic pistol, which was allegedly used in the crime.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the couple had been in a relationship for four years and shared a three-year-old son. They had been living together at the Diamond Housing Scheme residence for the past year.
Reports indicate that DaSilva arrived home intoxicated from a popular drinking establishment on Main Street after being called home by the victim. In response, he reportedly pulled out his firearm and discharged several rounds at her.
Vaughn collapsed, and DaSilva subsequently contacted the police, who arrived at the scene and rushed her to the Diamond Hospital. She succumbed to her injuries while receiving treatment.
Crime scene investigators recovered four 9MM casings and three suspected projectiles from the residence. An examination of the victim’s body revealed twelve gunshot wounds, including entry and exit wounds.
