Ruby’s journey through life began as a young schoolgirl at the Mahaica Scot School, known by that name back then and later renamed the Mahaica Primary School. As the eldest of five siblings, she exhibited her unwavering work ethic early on.
In 1938, after leaving school, Ruby joined her grandmother and began working at an estate in Mahaica to support her family, showcasing her sense of responsibility and dedication. Her commitment continued into her married life, beginning in 1951. For many years, she plied her trade as a market vendor, gracing both Georgetown and Mahaica with her presence.
