An old grievance between two friends turned deadly on Monday evening at Moleson Creek on the Corentyne.
Dead is Gavin Daniels, who was reportedly involved in a longstanding misunderstanding with the suspect. According to reports, the suspect had recently returned from sea, and Daniels visited his home to confront him, which led to a violent altercation.
Sources told The News Desk that the fight started at the suspect’s home and escalated onto the main road, where Daniels’ lifeless body was later discovered.
Neighbour Nafeeza Hussain told The News Desk that around 20:20 hrs, she was in bed when she received a call from her cousin, who lives in the house opposite hers, alerting her that the two men were fighting. She said the police were contacted but took some time to arrive.
Upon their arrival, the suspect had already fled the scene, and Daniels was found lying motionless at the corner of the road with what appeared to be stab wounds.
