A New Amsterdam man was placed on $30,000 station bail after being accused of threading to shoot former Member of Parliament, Barbara Pilgrim and calling her “house slave” on Monday last.
The incident took place at about 18 hours 30 while Pilgrim was infront Freedom House in New Amsterdam in the company of members from the People Progressive Party.
The News Desk was reliably informed that the male who is known to Pilgrim told her that she is a “Slave Catcher” and she replied by saying that “if I’m a slave catcher then you’re a slave master.”
The male then walked up closer to Pilgrim and pointed at her saying he will shoot her along with other members of the PPP/C who were standing in front of the building. Pilgrim became fearful for her life and as such reporter the matter to the Central Police Station in New Amsterdam.
At about 20 hours 32 the same evening, the suspect was arrested and taken to the station where a confrontation was held and he admitted to calling Pilgrim a “slave catcher” but denied threatening to shoot her.
A statement was taken from the former Member of Parliament and the suspect was placed on $30,000 station bail and was scheduled for a court appearance on Tuesday.
Over the past weeks, a number of persons who had previously supported the A Partnership for National Unity (APNU) but are now throwing their support behind the People’s Progressive Party for the upcoming Local Government Elections have been facing victimization and verbal attacks by members of the APNU.
