The Police in Berbice are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of 31-year-old father of three, Colane Toney of Number 53 village on the Corentyne.
According to Regional Commander, Shivpersaud Bacchus, the incident took place at about 23 hours 30 at Number 53 village.
The News Desk understands that Toney had sold a cellphone to the 24-year-old suspect who refused to hand over the agreed cost for the phone.
This led to a fight between the two men during which the suspect inflicted two stab wounds on Toney. He died while being rushed to the New Amsterdam Regional Hospital.
Investigations are ongoing.
