A woman and her 8-year-old son were found dead in their home with multiple chop wounds about their bodies earlier today.
Dead is 31 year old Melisa Arokium and 8 year old Anthony Arokium both of Mangroove Street, Rose Hall Town on the Corentyne.
According to information received, the bodies were discovered by a cousin who informed the police.
Upon arrival at the scene at about 13 hours, the woman was found in a pool of blood in the living room while her son was found dead in the bedroom.
The News Desk spoke with an uncle of the victims, Leon Moore and he related the woman who operates a grocery shop had no issues with anyone in the area and so it is difficult to speculate who may want the woman and her son dead.
Region Six Commander, Shivpersaud Bacchus told the media at the scene that several persons were taking into custody for questioning.
The bodies were removed from the scene several hours later and taken to the Port Mourant Hospital where They were pronounced dead by a doctor.
Investigations are ongoing.
