Police are actively investigating a fatal shooting incident that occurred early this morning at Lot 23 D’Urban Street, Lodge, Georgetown. The incident, which took place around 05:45 hrs, claimed the life of 40-year-old Anthony Havescomes, a vendor from South Ruimveldt. Havescomes was shot multiple times and succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. Several other individuals were also injured in the attack and are currently receiving medical treatment.
According to initial reports, an ‘All Black’ party was being held at V’s Flavor Delight, located at the same address, when police arrived around 05:00 hrs to disperse the gathering. A 37-year-old businessman, who hosted the event, told authorities that shortly after the party was shut down, he was on the northern side of D’Urban Street cleaning up when he heard multiple gunshots.
The businessman reported seeing a black motorcar speeding westward along D’Urban Street immediately after the shots were fired. Upon further investigation, he discovered several individuals with apparent gunshot wounds and quickly helped transport them to the hospital.
At the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC), the following victims were treated:
Travis Ceres, 25, a vendor from East La Penitence, suffered a gunshot wound to the lower abdomen, Teon Allen, 38, an unemployed resident of Sophia, was shot in the left shoulder, Stanley Matthews, 31, a laborer from Sophia, sustained gunshot wounds to his left hand and left thigh, Destra Auther, 33, a vendor from East La Penitence, was shot in the left leg and Lenox Wayne, 39, a security guard from Turkeyen, received gunshot wounds to his right thigh and hand.
Tragically, Anthony Havescomes did not survive the attack. The police are continuing their investigation to identify the perpetrators and determine the motive behind the shooting.
