Registration for the $100,000 cash grant concluded on Sunday, with 49,830 Berbicians aged 18 and older signing up at 183 registration sites across Region Six, including Orealla, Siparuta, and Baracara.
In an interview this morning, Region Six Chairman David Armogan noted that persons who missed the registration exercise will need to await further instructions from the Ministry of Finance regarding additional registration opportunities.

He also highlighted that bedridden individuals living near registration sites were accommodated during the process to ensure inclusivity.
“We had a very smooth process. On the first day, there were some hiccups as the registration began after 9:00 AM instead of the scheduled 8:00 AM due to logistical issues. However, everything went smoothly afterward,” Armogan stated.
The chairman further explained that National Insurance Scheme (NIS) pensioners and old-age pensioners who were unable to collect their cheques during the designated distribution period will soon have another opportunity. Efforts are underway to establish a system to complete the distribution process. Both groups were given one week to collect their cheques, but that exercise ended last week.
“The Ministry of Finance has indicated that those who missed collecting their cheques at the NIS will be able to do so at a location closer to their homes, with details to be announced soon,” Armogan added.
Additionally, individuals admitted to health institutions and other shut-ins who were unable to visit registration sites were also registered to ensure they benefit from the cash grant.
