A passenger plane carrying 62 individuals has crashed on the outskirts of São Paulo, as reported by Brazil’s Civil Defense and CNN Brasil. The aircraft hit multiple houses, causing significant damage.
According to Flightradar24 data, Flight 2283, operated by Voepass, departed from Cascavel and was headed to São Paulo when it lost signal shortly before 1:30 p.m. local time (12:30 p.m. ET). The flight was carrying 58 passengers and 4 crew members at the time of the crash, as confirmed by Voepass.
The airline’s statement indicated that there is still no confirmation regarding the cause of the accident or the current status of the individuals on board.
Videos shared on social media depict the plane spiraling down from the sky, and another shows the aircraft engulfed in flames on the ground.
