A post-mortem examination conducted on the body of 77-year-old Pooshandeo Rambarran has revealed that he died from a heart attack.
The examination was performed between 8:00 AM and 9:04 AM on January 31, 2025, by Government Pathologist Dr. V. Bridgemohan at Bailey’s Funeral Home, No. 4 Village, West Coast Berbice. The body was identified by 51-year-old Ganesh Ramsaroop, a pump attendant from Gangaram Village, East Canje, Berbice, in the presence of police officers. Following the examination, the body was handed over to relatives for burial.
Rambarran’s death was initially under investigation after reports surfaced that he had been strangled during an altercation. A security guard, who is the nephew of the deceased’s wife, was taken into police custody to assist with the probe.
According to reports, the suspect’s wife, who works for Rambarran’s 68-year-old widow, had arrived for work when she was followed by the suspect, who repeatedly accused her of infidelity. Rambarran reportedly intervened, asking the suspect to stop cursing the woman in his yard. This allegedly angered the suspect, leading to the confrontation.
