Police are investigating the alleged murder of 29-year-old construction worker Rondell Clarke, who was fatally shot on Saturday evening in Second Street, Foulis, East Coast Demerara.
According to reports, the incident occurred between 7:30 p.m. and 7:45 p.m. on June 8, 2025. Clarke, who resided at Lot 413 Foulis, was allegedly shot by a 25-year-old male security officer employed by a private security firm.
Following the incident, police responded promptly and found Clarke in a conscious state. He was quickly escorted to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC), where he was admitted to the critical surgical bay. However, despite efforts to save his life, Clarke succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at approximately 8:20 p.m. the same evening.
The body was later transferred to the GPHC mortuary, where it has been placed in storage pending a post-mortem examination.
The suspect was arrested at the scene and is currently in police custody, assisting with ongoing investigations. The police have also confiscated the firearm believed to have been used in the shooting.
The motive behind the fatal encounter remains unclear, and investigators are continuing their work to determine the circumstances that led to the tragic incident.
