Police have launched an investigation into the alleged ill-treatment of a one-year-old female child at Lot 218 Blueberry Hill, Wismar, Linden. The incident, which reportedly occurred around 22:26 hrs on March 22, 2025, involves suspect Kester Johnson.
According to police reports, the child’s mother, Sawdia Bobb, who resides at the same address, has been in a relationship with Johnson for ten years. The couple shares three children, ages three, two, and one.
Investigations revealed that the first instance of physical violence occurred in February 2025, when Johnson allegedly slapped Bobb during an argument over a voice note. Following the incident, Bobb left their home and stayed with a friend for several days.
On March 22, another altercation took place between the two at their residence. Bobb subsequently visited the Wismar Police Station to report Johnson for assault but did not provide a written statement, stating she would return later—though she never did.
Days later, on March 25 at about 15:25 hrs, police received information regarding a disturbing video showing the couple’s toddler being ill-treated. Upon contacting Bobb, she admitted that she had received and later deleted the video to prevent others from seeing it due to her child’s age. However, when asked, she retrieved the video from her phone’s trash folder and showed it to the police.
The footage, reportedly recorded by Johnson and sent to Bobb, showed the child hanging from a bedsheet. Police immediately launched an investigation, leading to Johnson’s arrest. Both Bobb’s and Johnson’s phones have since been lodged for forensic analysis.
While a charge of assault has already been prepared against Johnson and is set for court presentation on March 27, authorities are also compiling a separate file regarding child abuse.
A medical examination of the toddler confirmed that there were no visible marks of violence, and the child is reportedly alive and well.
The investigation remains ongoing.
