Police in the capital are investigating an alleged shooting incident that occurred late Sunday night at a residence located at Lot 567 Toucan Drive, South Ruimveldt, Georgetown.
According to reports, the incident took place around 23:30 hrs on June 1, 2025. Investigators revealed that Rickford Horilall, a 34-year-old gold miner, was at home with his reputed wife and stepdaughter when they were startled by what appeared to be gunshots.
Horilall, who had returned from the interior earlier that day around 11:00 hrs, told police that he and his wife were asleep when they were awakened by two loud explosions. Upon inspection, he discovered a broken glass window and two metal fragments on the floor of their bedroom.
He said he looked outside but did not see anyone in the yard or on the roadway.
Detectives visited the scene and processed the area. Two metal fragments, suspected to be components of ammunition, were recovered from the bedroom floor. Several persons in the vicinity were questioned; however, no useful information was obtained.
Police have launched a full investigation into the incident as they work to determine the motive and identify the person or persons responsible.
No injuries were reported.
